Constructing Worlds brings together eighteen exceptional photographers from the 1930s to the present day who have changed the way we view architecture and perceive the world around us.

From the first skyscrapers in New York and decaying colonial structures in the Congo, to the glamorous suburban homes of post-war California, and the modern towers of Venezuela, we invite you on a global journey through 20th and 21st century architecture.

Featuring over 250 works, this exhibition highlights the power of photography to reveal hidden truths in our society.

Underpass Mural

Remember Richard Eastham (Feria Urban Deisgn) worked with AUB BA Architecture students Katie Lucas, Sam Hold, Gemma Copp and MArch student Selda Yildrim working on the Lowther Road underpass, with carol singing and playing football? Well Just to make you aware that we have been notified by Bournemouth Borough Council that the Lowther Rd subway is now open and the creative mural design now completed. This is the result of a 13 month project in partnership with the Borough’s Planning & Transport Unit, WAVE Arts Education Agency, Dorset Police, Malmesbury Park and Bethany Primary schools. The change and use of this urban space has been influenced by our staff and students on BA Architecture, including valuable input from Richard Eastham. AUB alumni Ilse Black (graduate of BA Hons Fine Art) has worked with over 200 pupils from Malmesbury and Bethany School to create a spectacular mural piece for the space.

Dorset Police have already received overwhelming positive feedback from the community as families/individuals feel safe to use the subway once again. They believe such investment is necessary in changing the historical reputation of such spaces. Another success story in how AUB is influencing the local community.

Project Initiated by Deano Pickering, Senior Projects Officer – Widening Participation.

Richard Waring, Principal Lecture and course Leader for BA(Hons)Fine Art says: Cycled through the subway this morning, looks brilliant! I'll see it everyday!
