2011 Beach Workshop

After last years heavy rain, and the preceding years of cold wind and light showers, today Bournemouth lived up to its reputation with a 27C heat wave! Crowded beaches meant a slightly reduced ambition to the usual structures and a sandcastle competition of the beach between the two piers.

NEON: Shaping Light – Neon Workshops
During September a series of Neon Workshops took place involving the public, students and staff from the University College.

Led by master neon maker Julia Bickerstaff and artist Richard Wheater, participants learnt everything from transcribing ideas into neon drawings to filling their glass forms with gas. Creations made during the workshops will form part of the Night Light event in Bournemouth (in the caravan at West Beach) and subsequently the Exhibition at the Gallery, AUCB.

Day 2 of set up and finished by 7pm. Mark Wong (software and sound production) flies in from USA.
Switch on 2pm Friday 23rd September and running late Friday and Saturday.
